It is always such an honor to photograph a Baby's First Year, but even more special to document as a family grows and has more children. I captured big brother's first year and I am so excited to do the same for his little sister. Mom, Gigi is the sweetest and has always been so welcoming. 

Mom traveled a distance to our studio because she wanted consistency in her children's studio portraits. She also loves the option of our full-service experience.

While mom was able to enjoy her coffee and be pampered, I was getting portraits of baby Maia who was eight weeks old. She was just the sweetest, all smiles and her blue eyes were gorgeous. It's such a fun age to be able to catch a glimpse of their personality and they are so much more alert. So many adorable images!

Mom was simply beautiful in a flowing white dress she picked from our Client Closet, along with baby’s swaddle and headbands. We offer an amazing selection of high-end dresses that are perfect for postpartum. I have spent years curating this wardrobe with pieces that photograph well and make you feel as beautiful as you are.

Mom Christina was so excited to celebrate her beautiful daughter that we started portraits with just the two of them together (she also has 3 boys). So many gorgeous images!

After getting great shots of Mom and Charlotte, it was time to get some fun solo photos of the birthday girl. She even showed off her standing skills. Baby girl’s sweet personality just shines in these images. Simply adorable! 

A quick wardrobe change into a dainty tulle dress and Charlotte was ready for cake. She wasn’t sure about her special treat when we brought it out, but she decided to test the frosting. We ended the session with her big brothers joining her. We had so much fun capturing this loving family celebrating this important occasion.

Once you book, we reserve your session with a tentative due date and take a limited number of newborns each month.

3 Tips For A Newborn Session With Siblings | Newport Beach Newborn Photographer

You are expecting your second baby and dreaming of your sweet babies together in beautiful portraits you can cherish forever. After years of experience and hundreds of sessions, I have some tips and tricks up my sleeve to get those timeless portraits we are known for. 

LET GO OF ANY EXPECTATION 

• First and most important, children can sense our energy as parents. If we remain calm and don’t get frustrated with their behavior, we can get them to warm up and enjoy the experience.  

• Taking breaks with the bigger siblings and giving them some time to play will help them adjust to the environment. We try to keep the mood light and fun!

• I’ve been around hundreds of children and have seen it all. Your toddler/child’s behavior can be unpredictable, but don’t worry, it will not surprise me. Being patient and flexible, I will help them enjoy the experience and get some great shots in the process.

SAFETY 

• I always take into consideration the safety of the newborn and will never force a child into a position with the baby that they are uncomfortable with.

• Sometimes, we just get a photo of the sibling touching the baby and that’s ok. We meet your child where they are based on age, mood, behavior, etc. 

REWARDS 

• I always suggest bringing a favorite item or treat that will entice your little one. 

• If needed, I also have a treasure box of goodies that can help keep them engaged.

• Often times as parents, trying to force the kids to look at the camera can seem boring to them. It is much easier if we get authentic interactions, in addition to some posed shots. The goal is to capture that special bond between siblings.

Documenting those first precious moments of your newborn with their sibling is an amazing way to create lifetime memories.

Photographing your newborn and siblings can sometimes be a bit challenging, but I have plenty of tricks that I save for your session. Hospital Bag Must Haves | Newport Beach Newborn Photographer

Coming from a newborn photographer who’s had experience, packing your hospital bag is an essential part of preparing for your baby’s arrival. Following are some suggestions to help make your hospital stay as comfortable as possible:

Clothing 

• nursing-friendly clothes that are easily accessible and not restricting, especially for C-section mamas 

• a delivery gown, like those available from the Frida line, that is so soft and comfortable compared to the gown the hospital gives you 

• comfy slipper socks

Nursing

• Silverettes are lifesavers when just starting to nurse and during the healing process

• Bamboobie nursing pads are soft and help prevent milk from leaking into your bra 

• nursing bras that aren’t too tight 

Toiletries

• bring them in a hanging toiletry bag so you can hang for easy access 

Postpartum items

• the entire Frida line has postpartum supplies

• Frida shorts underwear is more comfortable and supportive than what the hospital offers 

• Frida has perineal cooling pads if the hospital only provides a few

• Frida has a spray bottle that’s much easier to use than the squirt bottle the hospital supplies

baby’s stuff

• bring a few onesies. Bonsie has a great onesie that has a Velcro opening for easy skin-to-skin access 

• announcement props

• the hospital provides diapers, wipes, blankets unless they tell you otherwise

• pacifier - if you have a specific kind you plan on using 

Snacks and drinks 

• granola bars, trail mix, crackers

• water and coconut water

Entertainment

• books, magazines, favorite movies or TV shows

• phone charger or portable charger

• an extra long cord for charging phone

• headphones that help during labor if you have a playlist

It was an honor to capture baby’s first portraits during this newborn session in my Newport Beach studio.

It seems like just yesterday I was capturing Joelle's 6-month sitter session and here we are celebrating her one-year milestone. It is amazing how quickly the first year goes by!

Because your little one grows so quickly, a milestone session capturing each unique stage is so important. At our 3-4 month sessions, baby is mastering tummy time. The 6-9 month sessions are referred to as sitter sessions because they are just learning to sit up without assistance. At 1 year, they are crawling and/or standing on their own when propped. 

Our baby’s first year collective features family portraits, including hair and makeup for Mom and wardrobe for the entire family. We offer this full-service experience because we know life with a little one can be busy. Our client closet offers a wide variety of beautiful options for Mom, kids clothing and little girls hair accessories, and shirts for Dad. We take care of scheduling the hair and makeup artist so Mom can relax and be pampered before her session.

One Year Milestone Portraits In Newport Beach Studio | Baby’s First Year Collective

We all know how fast the first year flies by, which is why most parents choose to do our baby’s first year collective. This collective includes 3-4 sessions (sometimes Mom’s choose more) to document those important milestones for baby. 

Mom decided to capture solo portraits of Emily celebrating her first birthday. She looked so sweet in her own cute little pink dress, monogrammed diaper cover and bows that Mom brought to the session.

One Year Studio Session With Newport Beach Photographer

One year birthday celebrations are always a such a joy to capture! It warms my heart just knowing what a whirlwind of a year it has been for the parents and what a special milestone this is for the family. 

ONE YEAR MILESTONE AND CAKE SMASH

This was the third session with this family as they were a membership client. We started with their maternity, newborn and now this lovely way to remember Emilia’s first birthday!

Emilia looked so sweet in her blush tulle dress and Mom was simply beautiful in her pale blush dress, both picked from the wide variety available in our client closet. 

We started the milestone session capturing solo shots of Emilia. So many gorgeous photos of her posing on her own, she’s a natural! After getting lots of adorable shots of the birthday girl, the entire family decided to join in on the fun! 

Emilia was excited to test the frosting when we brought the cake out. She even shared it with big brother…so sweet! What a lovely way to remember her first birthday! 

GROWING AN ALBUM

Over the span of the year, her parents selected their favorite images from each session. These photos will be bound in a beautiful album for Emilia and her family to enjoy.

Our Sunset Outdoor Sessions take full advantage of the great weather here in Orange County, CA. The golden hour (about an hour before sunset) is the perfect time to capture gorgeous photos of your family.

At your appointment, you will meet with our professional stylist and try on wardrobe pieces selected for you. Next, she will curate a wardrobe that works for the whole family based on your color and style preference.

DAY OF YOUR SESSION

Our hair and makeup artist arrives at your home, allowing you time to be pampered and relaxed. This avoids rushing around trying to iron the clothes, get everyone dressed and then at the last minute, take some time for you to throw on a little mascara.
