You are expecting your second baby and dreaming of your sweet babies together in beautiful portraits you can cherish forever. After years of experience and hundreds of sessions, I have some tips and tricks up my sleeve to get those timeless portraits we are known for.
LET GO OF ANY EXPECTATION
First and most important, children can sense our energy as parents. If we remain calm and don’t get frustrated with their behavior, we can get them to warm up and enjoy the experience.
Taking breaks with the bigger siblings and giving them some time to play will help them adjust to the environment. We try to keep the mood light and fun!
I’ve been around hundreds of children and have seen it all. Your toddler/child’s behavior can be unpredictable, but don’t worry, it will not surprise me. Being patient and flexible, I will help them enjoy the experience and get some great shots in the process.
SAFETY
I always take into consideration the safety of the newborn and will never force a child into a position with the baby that they are uncomfortable with.
Sometimes, we just get a photo of the sibling touching the baby and that’s ok. We meet your child where they are based on age, mood, behavior, etc.
REWARDS
I always suggest bringing a favorite item or treat that will entice your little one.
If needed, I also have a treasure box of goodies that can help keep them engaged.
Often times as parents, trying to force the kids to look at the camera can seem boring to them. It is much easier if we get authentic interactions, in addition to some posed shots. The goal is to capture that special bond between siblings.
Documenting those first precious moments of your newborn with their sibling is an amazing way to create lifetime memories.
Photographing your newborn and siblings can sometimes be a bit challenging, but I have plenty of tricks that I save for your session. If you’re due, it is best to reach out in the second trimester as we book up in advance. We offer a limited number of sessions, so it is important to book your session soon.
