Hospital Bag Must Haves | Newport Beach Newborn Photographer

Coming from a newborn photographer who’s had experience, packing your hospital bag is an essential part of preparing for your baby’s arrival. Following are some suggestions to help make your hospital stay as comfortable as possible:

Clothing 

• nursing-friendly clothes that are easily accessible and not restricting, especially for C-section mamas 

• a delivery gown, like those available from the Frida line, that is so soft and comfortable compared to the gown the hospital gives you 

• comfy slipper socks

Nursing

• Silverettes are lifesavers when just starting to nurse and during the healing process

• Bamboobie nursing pads are soft and help prevent milk from leaking into your bra 

• nursing bras that aren’t too tight 

Toiletries

• bring them in a hanging toiletry bag so you can hang for easy access 

Postpartum items

• the entire Frida line has postpartum supplies

• Frida shorts underwear is more comfortable and supportive than what the hospital offers 

• Frida has perineal cooling pads if the hospital only provides a few

• Frida has a spray bottle that’s much easier to use than the squirt bottle the hospital supplies

baby’s stuff

• bring a few onesies. Bonsie has a great onesie that has a Velcro opening for easy skin-to-skin access 

• announcement props

• the hospital provides diapers, wipes, blankets unless they tell you otherwise

• pacifier - if you have a specific kind you plan on using 

Snacks and drinks 

• granola bars, trail mix, crackers

• water and coconut water

Entertainment

• books, magazines, favorite movies or TV shows

• phone charger or portable charger

• an extra long cord for charging phone

• headphones that help during labor if you have a playlist

Book your newborn photographer before you go into labor

It’s always a good idea to book a newborn photographer during your second or third trimester so that you already have that checked off your to-do list. Most photographers book up months in advance. Reach out to us soon as we are booking fall due dates!
