4 Reasons to Choose a Studio Session For Your Family

The more sessions I photograph in my new photography studio in Newport Beach, the more I fall in love with these sessions. I’ll always love a beautiful sunset and beach session, but there’s something beautiful about the simplicity of studio sessions. Whether it’s a maternity, newborn, family, or milestone session, here are 4 reasons to choose a studio session.

Timeless and Classic Look

Whether it’s in a year, 10 or 50 years from now, you can be confident that the portraits we create in the studio will stand the test of time. We keep things really simple, with a lot of whites and neutrals to create a classic look that will go with your home regardless of how your decor style changes over the years. Then when the time comes for you to pass your heirloom portraits down to your children, you can know they will look just as beautiful hanging on their walls.

Relaxed

While I love in-home and outdoor sessions, I find that young children are oftentimes more distracted. In the studio, children can have space to roam around and take breaks without being overwhelmed by their surroundings. We’re able to give them breaks and then dial them back in much easier.

I find parents are often much more relaxed as well. When you don’t have to spend your energy running around cleaning your house moments before I arrive, you’re able to relax and just be present with your family.

Flexible Timing

For the most part, we are not limited to certain times (or weather) in the studio like we are with outdoor sessions. Most studio sessions take place in the morning when children are typically their happiest. We are also able to work around naps and feeding schedules.

Yes, most kids can rally for one night, and sometimes it’s worth pushing for that sunset session. You know your child and your family best. If that feels like a stretch, opting for a studio session may be best.

Wardrobe & changing

If you’ve ever had a photoshoot where you have been in charge of styling your family, you know just how stressful it can be. Choosing outfits, ironing and steaming, and then getting everyone dressed just in time to get out the door…all while praying no one spills anything. It’s a lot. Or maybe you haven’t had to deal with that and you’ve just had to show up on location and change. Definitely a better scenario but still a little chaotic getting your family changes in the car and making sure everyone is all set…minutes before your session starts.

When booking your studio session, all you have to do is show up and wardrobe will be prepped and ready for you in the changing room. It’s really that easy!
