Studio Newborn Session | Newport Beach, CA

I am so excited to share this studio newborn session with you! This handsome little guy was an absolute angel for his session, big sister did great, and Mom and Dad could not have been happier. You can see the joy on all of their faces, and it was truly an honor to document their first portraits as a family of four!

The Transition to Two Children

“The days are long, but the years are short.” We have all heard this saying and we’re all told to soak up all the moments because it will go by so fast. It’s true- it really is and as much as you can know that in the moment, I don’t think you truly understand it until you’re it it. Even then, you may not because you’re a new parent and you are figuring things out for the first time. But then they turn one and it’s as if you suddenly understand because you sit there looking through old photos and wonder how you went from having a tiny little newborn to the, now toddler, right in front of you.

Then, you have your second baby and you know so much more- both what to do and also the weight of those short years. Suddenly, soaking up all of those moments seems even more important. This time you know. But you aren’t just soaking up those moments with your new baby, but with your toddler too.

That transition can be hard, I’m sure. It can also be really beautiful, different, and easier than you imagined. I loved hearing from Lilian about what that has been like for them. She said it’s been very easy so far and how each child is so different. Big sister absolutely adores her baby brother, Maximos.

Maximos’ Newborn Session

From start to finish, I loved every bit of this newborn session. We started out with his solo portraits and he was quite the model, sleeping through it all. He loved to be swaddled and getting snuggles from his big sister.

After that, it was time for family portraits. I never know what I’ll get from older siblings during this time, but once again big sister was amazing! She was all smiles, Mom and Dad took it all in, and we seriously just had the best time. In between photos, big sister danced around in her tulle skirt and was so happy. It truly was infectious, and it’s a feeling that I hope they are able to go back to time and time again when they look back on their portraits.

Mom borrowed a dress from the client wardrobe, which paired perfectly with big sisters soft pink outfit.
